NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Directors of the Neches & Trinity Valleys Groundwater Conservation District will hold a public hearing on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 11:00 am in the District office located at 501 Devereux, Ste. 201, Jacksonville, TX 75766. The District is currently receiving public comments on the proposed desired future conditions for the area aquifers that were recently adopted by Groundwater Management Area 11.
All interested members of the public are invited to attend the hearing. Any person who wishes to present comments or other information may do so in person, by counsel, or both. Comments may be presented verbally or in written form. However, comments on the DFC should be submitted to the District prior to the date of the hearing in order to provide the District ample time to consider any such comments. Written comments may be submitted by email or to the address provided below. Limits may be placed on the amount of time that each person can present verbal comments at the hearing.
The proposed desired future conditions and supporting materials for the area aquifers are available at the District’s office at 501 Devereux St., Ste. 201, Jacksonville, TX 75766 or on the District’s website at www.ntvgcd.org. Public comments will be accepted by the District through July 28, 2021, at the District office by mail, email or at the public hearing. PROPOSED DESIRED FUTURE CONDITIONS PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD
District representatives for Groundwater Management Area 11 (GMA 11) at their last meeting approved Proposed Desired Future conditions (DFCs) for relevant aquifers located within GMA 11, and the group is now welcoming public comment. Neches & Trinity Valleys Groundwater Conservation District (NTVGCD) is one of four groundwater conservation districts that makeup up GMA 11. At the April 28, 2021, GMA representatives voted unanimously to approve Proposed Desired Future Conditions to present to the public for comment. The public comment period officially began Thursday, April 29, 2021 and lasts for 90 days. Toward the end of the 90-day public comment period, the NTVGCD will hold a public hearing to receive both written or oral comments on the proposed DFCs. Comments will be accepted for 90 days. After the public comment period has ended, each of the four groundwater conservation districts will compile a summary of relevant comments received and present this summary for consideration at the next GMA 11 meeting, which is scheduled for August 18, 2021.
